Is there anything I need to bring?
We will ask you to provide a suitable form of ID as a deposit. We ask you to wear shoes on all canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards and a change of clothes is recommended. If you’re bringing a dog along with you, bring a towel or matt for them to sit on whilst on the boat.
What ID do I need?
A form of Photo ID, such as a driving licence or passport.

Do I have to book?
Booking is strongly recommended to ensure you are not disappointed when you turn up. We can’t guarantee a boat will be available without a booking. Book here
Is there anywhere to leave my bags?
We have areas to leave your belongings behind the front desk. If you are in a Canoe, Kayak or Paddle Board we strongly encourage you to leave belongings at the centre. Please note all belongings are left at your own risk.
What are your opening times?
Check our opening times page here. If the weather if unsuitable, we may close boat hire so contact us before travelling for assurance.
Can I hire a double kayak?
We have two double kayaks available; booking them here is recommended. If they’re not available we have canoes as an alternative.
What’s the difference between a kayak and a canoe?
A kayak uses a double bladed paddle and a canoe uses a single bladed paddle. Our Canoes are open topped, whereas you sit inside our kayaks. We do have a small number of sit-on-top kayaks so if you’re worried about being inside a boat then do let us know!
Do I have to wear a buoyancy aid?
All canoe, kayak and paddle board hires have to wear a buoyancy aid as per British Canoeing guidance; the national organisation for paddlesports. Any under 14’s and weak/non-swimmers on rowing boats and pedalos also have to wear a buoyancy aid.
Does the hire price include everything we/I need?
Yes! For canoe’s, kayaks and paddleboards we will give you the correct paddle for your craft along with a buoyancy aid. On pedalo’s and row boats, we will give anyone who needs / wants one, a buoyancy aid.
How many people can fit in an open canoe?
Our biggest canoes can fit three adults or two adults and two small children. The middle seat is wide enough two small children can sit next to each other.
How many people can fit on a pedalo?
On a small pedalo a maximum of two adults and in a large pedalo a maximum of 4 adults.
How many people can fit in a rowing boat?
Our standard size rowing boats can fit three adults or 2 adults and 3 kids. Our larger rowing boat can fit 4 adults or 3 adults and 2 kids.
How far can we go?
In a rowing boat or pedalo you can go up to the wooden bridge with a sign saying “No boats past here.” This is just over a mile from the centre. In a canoe, kayak, or stand up paddleboad you can go past that for another couple of miles.
Do you have wetsuits available for hire?
Yes, we have a range of children and adult sizes available to hire subject to availability. We give priority to people on our coached paddlesport courses. Contact us for confirmation of availability.
Can I book for longer than 30 mins/1 hour?
Yes. Add the next available time slot to your order to extend your hire.
Can I book a range of different craft for hire?
Yes you can mix and match with all of our boats! This means you can cater for everyone in your group; we have an option for everyone! Our booking system can be found here and will let you book all the craft you’d like.
Are there changing rooms and toilets?
Yes we have both facilities are available on-site. We request you ask for permission before using the changing rooms so we can try to control the number of people in the building at any one time. Priority is given to anyone on one of our courses.
What’s the minimum age you can go in a boat?
All under 18s have to be supervised by an adult. (This can be on land as long as in-site.) There is no minimum age on pedalos, row boats, or canoes but children must be directly supervised if aged under 8. We recommend an age of 6 upwards to be in a kayak or 8 in a stand up paddleboard.
Can I take my dog on a boat?
Well-behaved dogs are allowed on pedalos, row boats, and in canoes. We ask that you bring a towel or matt for your pooch to sit on whilst in the boat. We’ve found that dogs can slip in our boats and damage the plastic surfaces.
What is the cancellation policy?
You can cancel your booking up to 48 hours before and reschedule your hire once, this is done through your account on our booking portal.
