A kayak uses a double bladed paddle and a canoe uses a single bladed paddle. Our Canoes our open topped, whereas you sit inside our kayaks.

Do I have to wear a buoyancy aid?

All canoe, kayak and paddle board hires have to wear a buoyancy aid. Any under 14s and weak/non-swimmers on rowing boats and pedalos also have to wear a buoyancy aid.

Yes! Standup paddleboard, kayak, and canoe hire all include necessary buoyancy aids and paddles.

How many people can fit in an open canoe?

Our biggest canoes can fit three adults or 2 adults and two small children. (The middle seat is wide enough two small children can sit next to each other.)

On a small pedalo a maximum of two adults and in a large pedalo a maximum of 4 adults.

How many people can fit in a rowing boat?

Our standard size rowing boats can fit three adults or 2 adults and 3 kids. Our larger rowing boat can fit 4 adults or 3 adults and 2 kids.

How far can we go?

In a rowing boat or pedalo you can go up to the wooden bridge with a sign saying “No boats past here.” This is just over a mile from the centre. In a canoe, kayak, or stand up paddleboad you can go past that for another couple of miles.

Do you have wetsuits available for hire?

Yes, but restrictions may mean they are unavailable. Contact us for confirmation.

Can I book for longer than 30 mins/1 hour?

Yes. Add the next available time slot to your order to extend your hire.

Can I book a range of different craft for hire?

Yes. Add the different craft to your basket before checking out.

Are there changing rooms and toilets?

Yes. Both facilities are available on on-site. We request you ask for permission before using the changing rooms. Priority is given to anyone on a course.

What’s the minimum age you can go in a boat?

All under 18s have to be supervised by an adult. (This can be on land as long as in-site.) There is no minimum age on pedalos, row boats, or canoes but children must be directly supervised if aged under 8. We recommend an age of 6 upwards to be in a kayak or 8 in a stand up paddleboard.

Can I take my dog on a boat?

Well-behaved dogs are allowed on pedalos, row boats, and in canoes.

What is the cancellation policy?

You can cancel your booking up to 48 hours before and reschedule your hire once, this is done through your account on our booking portal.
