Description
Designed to test the creativity and teamwork of individuals, this challenge is guaranteed to provide plenty of laughs as teams attempt to build their own Canoes out of cardboard and other recyclable materials, before testing it with a relay race around the pond at Leam Boat Centre.
Cardboard and Tape will be provided by the boat centre, but these will be finite resources. Teams should be encouraged to gather their own materials before turning up, to give them the best chance possible of building a boat that will stay afloat. Split into equal teams, they will be given 2 hours to assemble and race their boat, which needs to be capable of carrying one fully sized adult. Buoyancy Aids and paddles with be provided as the teams then race around the pond to, discover which team has built the fastest and most durable boat, whilst spectators can enjoy a good laugh if the inevitable happens.
This challenge will be the perfect activity for School groups, Scouts or even corporate groups looking to build teamwork within their respective organisations. The instructor from Leam Boat Centre will provide the information, equipment and safety on the water, but we ask that the leaders of respective groups take charge of the participants during the building exercise, with assistance from the Leam staff member.
