What to Wear and Bring:
You should have all your usual paddling equipment, including any safety/rescue kit you usually carry. If you would like to use a centre boat please get in touch in advance. The day will include fairly long periods of wet work, so be prepared for the prevailing temperatures!
We will be practicing rescues in a variety of boats so bring your usual boat, but you’ll get a chance to try others.
British Canoeing suggests a kit list of:
Rescue gear eg throwline
Tow system e.g. Sling
If you don’t have certain items of the above, please don’t feel you have to rush out and buy them, as we have plenty of spares, and you will hopefully gain some insight as to what you need and what’s best for you as part of the course.
Please bring a packed lunch with you (or you can buy some from the town nearby). Drinks and snacks are available for purchase at the boat centre.
