A really comprehensive introduction to the wonderful sport of kayaking!
This course consists of four sessions here at the Leam (usually an evening), and a fantastic day trip to the river Wye.
This course is designed for novice paddlers; maybe you have done a taster or hire session and loved it, or paddled as a child and would like to get back into it, or maybe you’ve never paddled but want to have a go. You will develop the basic paddle/boat skills and knowledge of river safety issues, so that you can be confident out on the water. You will also have the opportunity to spend some time in different types of kayak, to give you a feel for what’s out there!
Those that are interested can be assessed for their BC Discover Award, and you will hopefully have ventured beyond this level by the end of the course.
The River Trip is a scenic Days training through the Forest of Dean finishing at the well known Symonds Yat with the option to test the skills you’ve learnt on a grade 1/2 rapid. We meet near Ross on Wye at 10.30am and usually finish around 5.00pm
Weekday evening sessions: 6.30pm to 8.30pm
River trip: all day
