This is a fun filled weekend away, in Dartmoor (but always dependant on water levels). This weekend can be either training or assessment towards British Canoeing’s new Kayak White Water Award- if you have the relevant previous experience.
The first day will be at an easy grade 2 venue, practicing all the basic moving water skills. The second day will be a slightly harder river run which will give you a real taste of spending a whole day on moving water. Those that need it will get their adrenaline fix as you push your skills into the next league!
By the end of the weekend, you will have the skills and confidence to get out and have fun on grade 2 rivers. We will also look at various rescue skills relevant to that environment. This course is non-residential. We usually meet on Saturday morning, and stay in a Youth hostel or bunk house Saturday night, so you are welcome to join us if you like, or to make your own arrangements if you’d prefer.
This course is for you if: You have done a bit of moving water (e.g. Matlock or the Nene course) and enjoyed it, and would like to push yourself to the next level. Or you feel you are paddling at the level for the White Water Award and would like the certificate.
Discounts for those with their own boats can be considered. Please contact us so we can assure suitability of your boat and if we’re able to offer a discount.
